citrix3 Citrix Client will not connect to Server

Jim Deer I am hoping this problem is easy to fix as I have no experience with Citrix.

I have a client system that will no longer connect to the Citrix server. Users are able to successfully connect on different workstations. The taskbar shows that a connection was made but I cannot access the Citrix desktop. I have uninstalled and re-installed the client tools and rebuilt the link and still have the same problem.

James Saunders It sounds like you’ve not configure TS licensing correctly. Yconfigure TS cals to be per device then is that you’ve either run out and there are no available to issue to that workstation or you’ve exceeded the 120 day period allowed before the license server has to be authorised and licenses added. All the workstation up to that point will have had tempory licenses and when they run out you’re other wrokstations will be unable to connect.

Check in terminal service licensing server what its set to and how many have been issued. Also check tht the presentation servers match the licensing server for per user or per device cals.

Jarian Gibson Terminal Services can be on a DC or a member server in your domain. Terminal Services licenses are required with Citrix Licenses.

Jarian Gibson Make sure your Citrix server is pointed to the proper Terminal Services License server in your Terminal Services configuration.

Yes - TS licenses are required in addition to Citrix licenses.

Your TS licenses have to match the Operating System you are using for your Terminal Servers/Citrix Servers. So if you are running Citrix on Windows 2003 you will need Terminal Services licenses for Windows 2003. You will also have to decide on per user or per device for the Terminal Services licenses depending on your environment.

Jarian Gibson Since your Citrix is on Windows 2000, all you need to do is install Terminal Services licensing on your 2003 DC and point your Citrix server to it. Windows 2003 Terminal Services licensing has Windows 2000 Terminal Services CALs builtin.

Jarian Gibson Since you are on Windows 2000 you will have to do this in the registry...http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239107

Jim Deer Luis,

I’m not sure myself and that’s part of the problem. I did not install it and have never had any training on it. I help out at my wife’s office and this is problem just appeared.

I have not been able to get back in to the office to try setting up the DC with TS licensing and getting the member server that Citrix is on, pointing at it. The previous posters know what their talking about though. I just hope to get this fixed soon as I now have 2 systems that will not connect using the Citrix application.

Jim Deer Looks like we have a success!!

I turned on TS on the DC and added the TS Licensing from the add/remove windows applications.
I then added the Win 2000 Licenses purchased earlier…at first it gave me an error but I retried and it accepted them.

I expected to have to go in and set up the 2000 member server to point at the DC but went ahead and tried the client’s connection’s anyway. They are connecting. Seems it knows who the ‘boss’ is and looked to the DC by default.

If anything new comes up on this I will repost.

Again, Thank You for the help

jd
