Citrix Licensing Citrix License server 4.5 high CPU utilization (citrix.exe)
| Chan SingChin | Hi,
We have a Citrix license server 4.5 and with CPS 4.0 connect to it. I found that sometime the Citrix.exe use up a lots of CPU (100%) until those citrix server unable to connect to the license server and then I have to end task the Citrix.exe process. Anyone have any idea on this issue and what does the Citrix.exe for? Thanks |
| Daniel Wells | Has there been an update on this issue? I have been seeing the same thing. |
| D Gibbs | Am experiencing the same prob - ESX Server, W2k3-SP2 Seems to happen about once a month for me Have to restart all the Citrix services on the Server - May have to just implement a daily reboot |
| Reinhard Schwarz | We have the same issue. Anyone have any idea on this? Have anyone a case open, for this? |
| Brian Hartmann | Just to clarify, I’m having the problem with my Licensing Server Citrix.EXE consuming 100% of the cpu. but the exact scenario is this. I was having a problem with the Licensing server reporting more licenses in use then i had client workstations! So after calling Citrix Tech Support, they had me upgrade my License Server to the latest version. I was on version 9.2 of the licensing server and after upgrading to 11.whatever we started experiancing this high cpu utilization issue with Citrix.exe. It only happened after the upgrade. It happens speratically about once every 2 to 4 days. It usually happens at around 2 am. I have all of the citrix servers in the farm (except for the data collector, web access server and licensing server) on a citrix reboot schedule starting at 2am and spaced out 5 mins appart. The data collector is fine. The citrix.exe runs as the LOCAL SERVICE. Rebooting this machine every night seems like a bandaid and not a solution to stop the bleeding! Citrix needs to come up with something NOW! |
| David Bennett | Got it happening here as well… restarting the license server resolves for a while |
| Andrew Morgan | Same problem here too!
Esx 3.5 running the latest incarnation of license server. Net stop ctxlmc %26#38; net start ctxlmc will resolve the issue for a week or so but as everyone else has mentioned a fix that is NOT! |
| Randy Pineau | … you probably should create a new thread for this one - unless your CPU is struggling due to “citrix.exe” and high CPU.
On the ESX subject, I will add that I’ve had good results with 4.5 (and 4.0) on ESX. I allocate 2 CPU and 4GB per server which has yeilded 20+ users w/out issues. I didn’t configure the ESX servers, nor do I administer them, so I can’t help you there. Just thought I would toss out the fact that XenApp/PS is compatible, and can perform well on ESX. Randy |
