citrix4servers hang at reboot after upgrade to PS4

Blaine Hoopes Hi,
The easiest workaround I’ve found is to use the older Novell 4.90 client or even the 4.83 client. Going to any version of 4.91 (I’ve tried all the service packs and hotfixes to no avail) will cause it to occasionally get stuck at bootup time.

I don’t remember the exact registry key I changed that allowed me to use 4.91 but I stopped doing that workaround because each time I apply a new Citrix hotfix it undoes my registry key and breaks it again unless I remember to always edit the registry after every patch. So I just went back to using the old Novell client.

Basically all I did with my registry key change was to delay the starting of one of the Citrix services to give time for Novell to finish doing whatever it is trying to do at bootup time. I created a dependency so that CPSVC couldn’t start until some other service had started. I think it was IMAService that I told it to wait for.

Blaine Hoopes I’m in the process of upgrading several XPe feature release 3 servers to PS 4.0.

W2k with all service packs and patches — IBM servers, most are HS-20 blades but same thing on a variety of other model IBM servers.

These servers work fine when they are running but occasionally they hang at reboot. They just sit there at the blue screen — mouse cursor moves around, they respond to ping but you never get a login prompt. Finally you have to power off to reboot and sometimes this goes on 2-3 times in a row before they successfully boot. Note: these do shutdown just fine - the hang is when coming back up.

Once booted there is nothing in the event log from the time you originally shutdown until it successfully comes up.
