Citrix Password Manager - Upgrade of Password Manager 2.5 to 4.1

David Onilogbo Hi there,

I am in the middle of upgrading Password Manager 2.5 to 4.1. I carried out the upgrade according to Citrix’s recommendation as follows:

1. I upgraded the old store using the following command:
CtxFileSyncPrep /path:”Path to Root Store” /upgrade

2. I upgraded the console to version 4.1.

3. Finished off the upgrade by following the wizard in the ASC following the upgrade.

The problem now is that after I carry out these steps, the next bit is to complete the upgrade by selecting the option from Password Manager -%26gt; Other tasks -%26gt; Upgrade.

I pointed to the original upgraded store and the upgrade started until I got the following error message:
芒聙聹(string PasswordManager_ErrorMessage_)芒聙聺
“Errors were encountered while upgrading user configuration ‘%Configuration_Name%’芒聙聺

I could not run the upgrade task again as it says the store has already been upgraded.

I have now managed to reconfigure everything but the problem I芒聙聶m having now is that all the users芒聙聶 credentials store in the old store are not being read from the upgraded system. When a user logs on, Password Manager 4.1 is now presenting the First time list to enable the users to add their secondary credentials. If I disable the initial credential setup, it still does not pass the previous credentials to the application.

I know I can reset the user’s data but that will simply reset the encrypted keys which brings me back to square one.

Can some please tell me the best way of importing user credentials from an upgraded old store to version 4.1.

There are so many users hence asking them to do put in the credentials will cause many problems. I have even thought about scripting it if possible. I noticed that provisioning can be used to modify/import/export credentials but it needs an SSL Certificate, if I know it will fix the problem then I’ll get the certs hence the reason for raising this issue here.

Any help at this stage will be highly appreciated as I have tried this upgrade, many times over the last few days.

Current setup is CPM 4.1 (SP1) running on W2K Server.

David.

David Onilogbo Thanks for the quick response I will try to contact Tech Support.

I actually tried both ways i.e. completed the upgrade task before upgrading to SP1 as well as upgrading to SP1 before doing the final upgrade.

I am not aware of any password policies assigned to applications, there one or two redundant policies that are not being used.

The only thing I am about to try now is to do another upgrade (thankfully, I backed up the old store) from 2.5 to 4.0 and then from 4.0 to 4.1 followed by SP1. This originally was the plan until I saw a post about version 4.0 being buggy and citrix recommending that one should g to 4.1 directly.

One thing I did notice however this evening was that even though the console is version 2.5, the 5 agents running on PS4 do not seem to be consistent as one of them was running version 2 of the agent. After the upgrade I even upgraded the agent from version 4.1.85 to 4.1.100 with the hope of resolving this but all to no avail.

Can someone please give me the best contact no. or email address for Tech Support.

Thanks in advance.

David.
