Citrix Licensing This computer running Citrix Presentation Server will now stop accepting…

I have a farm with 14 Servers. Last week the users called me that they cannot login, and they getting the Message:

Description:
Application popup: Citrix Client Logon Message : Citrix Presentation Server license acquisition error (500): Unable to acquire a license from (BSYSTERM09) server. Please contact your system administrator or open Event Viewer for more details.


Then I started to analysing this Message and I have seen that befor I get this Message the following message appears in eventlog of the server:

This computer running Citrix Presentation Server will now stop accepting connections. This server is no longer in or could not enter a licensing grace period.


Then I started to analyse all 14 Servers and I have seen that these message appears on different times and different days sometimes on all other servers (only on 2 servers of this 14 I dont have this message).

When this message appears on one day on the regarding server I get then the message:

on the next day at 12 am.

I don’t know why this happen. Because when the server is rebooting (this happens every day at 3 a.m.) the Message always is Contacted successfull the License server.

I have searched a lot of forums but I didn’t find something what helped me. I have checked the Server editions and the License server, all seems ok. Only on the license server I see in the log a lot of denied messages...

I dont know what to do, or what to check, because the servers are running perfekt, only sometime this message appear on one of the servers in the Farm. The License server is connected over WAN (VPN) to this farm, maybe this is a problem, but then the server should go in grace mode? But he stop immediate accepting connections… but after a few minutes maybe the 9017 appears one more time (or more times) then this message stop and the server is accepting new connections. really strange. What can I do?

I have also updated the License server to 11.5 and the Farm is running on PS 4.5 on Win 2003 R2 with Hotfix Rollup package 1.

Nicolas de Toth Hi Zdenko ,

well, your Citrix Licensing server is no longuer available and this, for more that 2 weeks. Grace period is over!
First, you have to check Licensing server health. Look at its logs, IIS state. Try to connect to the licensing web interface and check file state et licensing details. You could copy us informations about that, it could help.

In a second time, verify network : look at dns entries. Are your licensing server still in your databases, try to check the alias or cname from differents servers (with nslookup command), including thoses who gets problems to communicate with licensing server.

In a third time, verify Farm configuration. Where’s your licensing server is declared ? Lokk at logs of your citrix administration server.

Last step, check communication between application servers and your licensing server. WAN connection stay in the stame state all the time ? is there “cut time” ? Try to access licensing port on licensing server from application servers with telnet (27000)

Oh yes it does. Look at the following error you get (extract from your own error message) :

What’s BSYSTERM09 ? Your licensing server ?

If it is, probably your problem is about license management. Don’t you think ?

I think the BSYSTERM09 is ok, because this message is a applikation popup, it appears at the Client, and he cannot get the license because when this message appears normally also the message 9017 appears

Zdenko Kotvas I have called the reseller to make an consolidation of the License file, I hope it helps….

Yes BSYSTERM09 is a normal Presentation server.

When this Error 9017 appears for example on the BSYSTERM04 Server (also a normal PS 4.5 HRP 1) then I get this Eventlog Message 26 on BSYSTERM04 and in the Message then appears BSYSTERM04.

I havo got the information from a Citrix specialist, to do the following:

dscheck /full Servers /Clean (Carefull, befor duing this a backup of your Datastore is recommended) And this must be only run on one Server for Cleaning Database regarding Server entries Description for this Command you find under http://support.citrix.com/article/ctx107800

And then I done a recreation of the local host cache with dsmaint recreatelhc description is on Articel: http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX759510 on all Servers.

Now I must wait if the error occurs because sometimes the Server went 1 week fine and then this message appears… The Citrix specialist telled me that he dont think that it is a license Server issue.

I also have this issue.

Our current configuration.
License Server: 11.5
Citrix Farm: 4.5 Rollup 2

I have had a ticket open with Citrix support for the past 1 1/2 months with no resolution. Yesterday after working with support we upgraded our License server from 11.3 to 11.5 in hopes this will fix the issue. I should know by the end of the week.
The only quick fix that seems to work for a few days is to change the license server on the affected system to a bogus server then back to the original license server.

Zdenko Kotvas Maybe it is a time Issue… because i have it since end of september, and when you say you have opened since 1,5 Months a ticket @ Citrix… Maybe it begun at the same time (I think 29.09.2008) was the first time @ my servers… It is only an idea, because I am despaired about this problem.
